Flooring, Food, and Fun

We closed on our new house today! Hooray. After Saturday, Ziz will no longer have to sleep on the couch. She'll have her own bed in her own room.

We decided rather than, um, invest in the over priced crappy carpet the builder was trying to sell us, we would purchase reasonably priced laminate from Ikea that looks great. Our flooring party was 3 weeks ago. I finally got around to downloading the pictures of my camera. I thought they were the pictures I took of Ziz's first trip to a farm this weekend, but alas no. As I recall, my camera didn't leave the diaper back last weekend. Oops.

Anyway, after the flooring was installed. We had a picnic in Baba's new house.

I really thought he was going to explode with happiness at the site of all the food around him.

Baba drive new dad's car

My poor little neglected blog, how I miss you. After we move, I'll get better. Maybe. Probably. We'll see.

I am thoroughly enjoying the terrible twos. My child has a shorter fuse than me, which is exciting. I can out answer any string of whys thrown my way without resorting to, "because I said so." Plus, I love playing all day long again.

Baba's vocabulary expands exponentially everyday. His favorite words and phrases include "McDonald's (french fries and apples, please!), "don't like it," "Baba go to Pa's house," and my favorite, "sure."

Do you want to eat lunch? Sure

Do you want to go outside? Sure

Do you want to put masks on a rob a bank? Sure

Do you know what I'm talking about? Sure

Sure is a definite upgrade from no. Although, no still gets in the rotation. A lot.

Since Ziz's decision to move to Minnesota, Zippy and I have sort of become car dealers. We bought a car for Zippy which Baba refers to as "new dad's car." We sold "old dad's car." And bought a car for Ziz, which he refers to as "Ziz's car." Baba talks about "old dad" and "new dad" on a regular basis. Probably confusing if you don't know he's talking about cars, not actual fathers. Kind of reminds me of when my grandpa died. My grandma has Alzheimer's and was convinced that grandpa was off fighting the war (and when she said war, she meant the big war - WWII) and there was this nice person who stayed with her to take care of her while her husband was away. Anyway, when she found grandpa dead, she said that the nice man that took care of her was dead. Her kids tried to explain to her that the dead guy was her husband. She was devastated - two people that she loved had died at the same time.

Kind of morbid, but it was funny. And, there really isn't another way to deal with watching your grandma's brain turn to mush.

(Think anyone would guess that I got almost no sleep last night and am up way past my bedtime after a long day of packing?)

Thief!

That's it. Whoever stole the first half of May needs to return it. Now. We are moving in a little over a week and I need a little more time to pack.

Do you have the time to listen to me whine

I have had a migraine all weekend. Let me tell you, there is nothing like putting in laminate flooring with a migraine.

But, on a happy note, we will be moving in a couple weeks (Memorial Day weekend). I guess that means I need to get some (a lot of) packing done. Just as soon as my head stops pounding and I stop wanting to throw up every time I move.
